The guides will lead you to the heart of this vast community so you can understand the incredible spirit of its people and at the same allow you to interact freely. The tour group consists of 6 or 7 people who take motorcycle taxis from the base of the favela to the top, for a view of the city. After you will descend through the favela along with the guide as he explains how certain educational and health institutions function. The main idea is to share and learn from people while walking through the streets, hearing the sounds, and experiencing the smells of dishes made by residents of the favelas. You will visit an art studio and a local school. The art studio is called Casa de Cultura where young artists sell their works. Its goal is to take you inside the world of the local artists and their works, which represent the local spirit, history and culture. You will continue to the local health center (This is an initiative where local and multinational companies have partnered to provide the site development for the young communities of the favelas). Donations of clothes, food and medicine are welcome.
