"Do Leme ao Pontal não há nada igual no mundo"

VERMELHA

Praia Vermelha - Rio de Janeiro . Brazil

It is the first Guanabara Bay beach. It is 243 meters-long. It is from General Tiburcio Square that the cable cars that connect Urca to the Sugar Loaf leave. It`s worth visiting the beach but with no bathing because the water is frequently polluted. When visiting it, you must enjoy the walk along Claudio Coutinho lane.



URCA

It is on the base of Urca Mountain and is approximately 100 meters-long. Even with some pollution in its calm water it is common to be cowded on the weekends. It is more visited by families and by those who practice sports.



FLAMENGO

It is a one-kilometer-long beach and it is downtown`s closest beach. You can get to Flamengo Park, an area with 1.2 million m2, with sports courts, grass and leisure areas. The sea is calmed like in all bay beaches.



BOTAFOGO

Praia de Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro . Brazil

Having as its background one of the most famous postcard os the city- the Sugar Loaf- Botafogo beach is 800 meters long and has calm water wich is not adequate for bathing. It is worth cycling along the track that follows the beach sidewalk.





LEME

leme - Rio de Janeiro . BrazilLeme beach has approximately one km of sand and water in good conditions for bathing. It begins on Leme Stone and goes until Princesa Isabel Avenue, where Copacabana begins. On the coast on the base of the mount there is disputed “Caminho do pescador” (Fisherman Way), where throw fishing is practiced. For those with more initiativethere is a place for jumping.



ARPOADOR

Praia da Concha - Rio de Janeiro . BrazilBeing 500 meters long, having clear sand and waves strong enough for surfing. Arpoador Beach is the firstpart of Ipanema beach. Up norththere is Diabo beach and Copacabana Fort. There is still Garota de Ipanema Park, with sport courts, skate tracks,  amphitheater that accesses the beach. It is one of the Brazilian Beaches with illumination for night surf practice. Its sunset is simply glamorous.



IPANEMA

Praia de Ipanema - Rio de Janeiro . BrazilOne of the most trendy beaches in Rio de Janeiro, Ipanema is approximately 2 km long and has a specific characteristic: it is divided into tribes. The GLS people, for example, enjoy beingon Teixeira e Souza Street, while the more modern ones like the Station number 10. The practice of sports such as volleyball, soccer/volleyball and paddleball is common due to its large sand area. On the Vieira Souto Avenue there is the cycle track that is extended along the beach and the sidewalk where people jog or stroll at the seashore.



LEBLON


Leblon - Rio de Janeiro . BrazilSepareted from Ipanema beach by Jardim de Ala canal located in one of the most expensive areas in Rio de Janeiro.Leblon beach is approximately 1.3 km long. Its end is one of the base of Dois Irmaos Mount, where where Visconde de Albuquerque canal flows. On this beach there begins a cycle track that gets connected to other patches and goes until Leme. It is worth describing the sidewalk, which is ideal for a nice walk.



VIDIGAL

Being 600 meters long and located on the base od Dois Irmaos Mount. Vidigal Beach can be accessed by Niemeyer Avenue and is not much crowded.Its water is usually proper for bathing.



SÃO CONRADO

It begins on Niemeyer Avenue and is extended for one kilometer until Sao Conrado tunnel. On its South extremity there is Pepino beach, where gliding and paragliding pilots jump from Pedra Bonita ramp.



BARRA DE TIJUCA

Barra de tijuca - Rio de Janeiro . Brazil

It is the longest beach in Rio de Janeiro, being 18 km long of clear and thin sand. Six km of its extension is urbanized having various services. The rest is almost a desert, with Clearwater and a more reserved environment where there is the charming Marapendi Enviromental Reserve. It has strong waves wich are good for practicing surf. At 08 kiosc there is the point for kitesurf.



RECREIO DOS BANDEIRANTES

It is the end of Barra de Tijuca beach which gets to thr great Pontal Stone. Due to its great waves, it is recommended for the surf practice.



MACUMBA


Praia da Macumba - Rio de Janeiro . Brazil
It is a small bay separated from Recreio beach by Pontal Stone. It is approximately 2 kilometers long with clear sand and appropriate water for bathing. Its waves are the favourite ones for the longboard practice.



PRAINHA

Getting to Barra da Tijuca, you must go through it until the end, passing by Recreio dos Bandeirantes beach and turning round Macumba beach. That`s when you begin climbing a mount and observe the inmensity of the sea. Located in an environmental preservation area, it is the surfers favourite beach due to its stronh waves. Surrounded by the rich Atlantic Forest, wich embraces pure water and tracks that lead you to a belvedere with a wonderful view. Prainha has crystalline water. It is a real shelter of beautiful people. It`s worth arriving early to enjoy the sun hiding behind the mountains in the middle of the afternoon. Another way to get to Prainha is by the surf bus, wich leaves Largo do Machado at 7 a.m.  and 10 a.m.
